Musky Shop Northwoods Fishing Report: Early November 2025

James Stewart November 07, 2025

We hope you're all enjoying a fantastic fall season!

Here in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, fall has been spectacular. The vibrant colors of the leaves have been breathtaking, though they're falling fast, and the vivid hues are fading quickly. Nonetheless, fall remains a remarkable season across the country, and it's especially stunning in the Minocqua, Wisconsin area.

Outstanding Fishing in the Northwoods

The fishing this season has been nothing short of exceptional, with Muskies stealing the show. Our guide, Al "Frosty" Frost, recently landed an impressive 49-inch Musky, and there have been plenty of others in the upper 40s and lower 50s. According to our guide staff and customers, Muskies are frequently being caught near weed edges. At the end of lake turnover, Muskies may scatter, but deep weed edges remain a prime target area through ice-up.

Post-Turnover Musky Hotspots

After turnover, Muskies tend to disperse, but several key locations are worth targeting. In addition to deep weed edges, consider focusing on:

  • Main lake basins: Look for schools of baitfish and fish around them.
  • Rock reefs: Both deep and shallow reefs can hold Muskies.
  • Shallow weeds: Some Muskies will always linger in the weeds.

A flexible approach is key. Start by working the deep weed edges, and if the fish aren't biting, check the basins, rocky reefs, or shallow weeds. Chances are, at least one of these areas will produce.

Top Musky Baits for Fall

These baits are excellent choices for targeting Muskies in the fall.

Don’t Forget Musky Suckers

Musky Suckers are another fantastic option, with many Muskies caught in the Northwoods using this method. We have a great selection of fresh, wild-caught Musky Suckers in stock, ready for your next trip.
