Bring the kids out to one of five Milwaukee County parks for free ice fishing clinics on Saturday, Feb. 17. Clinics will begin every hour starting at 9 a.m., with the last clinic starting at 2 p.m.

These clinics are held in formally designated urban waters. The designation by state statute s. 29.053 (2) (a), Stats, means they are reserved for participants ages 15 and younger and people with specific disabilities.

An adult must accompany small children. Local fishing clubs will teach participants to ice fish and stay safe while enjoying the activity. You don't need to register; however, advance notice is needed to bring a group larger than 20.

Details:

  • Dress for the weather and attend your choice of clinics held at five park lagoons.
  • Free fishing instruction, including safety, knot tying, proper equipment and techniques.
  • Taught by local fishing clubs.
  • Fishing equipment is available, but please bring your own if possible.
